Scouting Ministry

The United Methodist Church is the Chartering Organization of more Scout Units than any other organization in the United States. St John’s is the Charter Organization for two of the finest scouting programs in our area...Cub Scout Pack 23 and Boy Scout Troop 23.

Active Scouts of both programs develop initiative, leadership, self-reliance, and self-confidence. Scouting helps boys become good citizens of strong character, who will be leaders and achievers in the adult world.

Cub Scout Pack 23

  • The Cub Scout Program serves youth ages 1st grade through the 5th grade and centers around family activities.
  • Boys are assigned by age to a Den within the Pack. Each Den program, run by parents, involves learning activities of age specific practical knowledge, crafts, sports and field trips.
  • Cub Scouting promotes family involvement and is the beginning of a trail that leads to a 'physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight' young man.

The Cub Scouts meet Tuesdays from 7:00-8:00 p.m.

Boy Scout Troop 23

  • The Boy Scout Program serves young men ages 11-18 and is boy run with adult supervision.  Boy Scouting is centered around an outdoor program that develops leadership, skills and service.
  • Scouting instills good character.
  • The outdoor program includes a camping outing per month.  Troop 23's summer program has taken the scouts on high adventure activities from the Florida keys... to the Wilderness of Canada... to the mountains of the West.

We See You...

Thank you to the Scouts for installing the drain by the memorial garden to help with drainage. Also, to Michael Medico for his Eagle Scout project to clean, mulch and add lighting to the memorial garden as well as install two metal gates. It looks amazing. Thank you so much.
