Pastoral Care Team
The Care Team and Stephen Ministry have combined to form the Pastoral Care Team. These committed volunteers provide compassionate and confidential care to help with all of our congregational needs. We strive to respond to real-life needs in practical ways while respecting the individuals involved. If you are interested in joining this team, all it takes is the desire to serve those in need by giving love, prayers, and a little of your time.
This ministry meets the second Wednesday of each month in the Conference Room at 9:00 a.m.
For emergency and pastoral care needs, please call 941-210-9229. This is a confidential contact.
On my journey out today, I thought of you along the way!
What a better way to say, You’re in my thoughts and prayers today, then making a card and sending it out, that’s what “Caring Cards” is all about!
A “Crafty” Care Team Ministry of talented people who come together to make lovely handmade cards for St. John’s UMC family’s who may be going through a rough time, illness, or maybe just need to know we’re praying for them.
This ministry meets the second Monday of the month in the Community Room (Room #310) from 1:00-3:00 p.m.

Caring & Sharing
St. John's loves to recycle so every Monday morning, the Pastoral Care Team takes the altar flowers and makes individual flower arrangements that are available to take to someone who needs a little "pick me up." Contact the church office if you like to reserve one.
If you are interested in helping make these special gifts, please contact the office at 941.925.2661.
Arrangements are made Monday mornings in the Parlor.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
This ministry is a branch of the Pastoral Care Team that reaches people like no other.
The Prayer Shawl Ministry began November 2008. We have gifted over 650 shawls. We comfort hurts or add joy to a celebration.
As well as to our church family, St. John’s shawls have gone to: Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, Washington, California, Pennsylvania, North and South Carolina, India, Russia and France.
We hear time and time again how much a shawl means to a person who receives one. As shared in a thank you note, "As soon as the lovely shawl was draped around my shoulders, I felt the warmth and power of the prayers that went into it."
We welcome YOU to share your time and talent in this ministry. Yarn provided. We can teach you the stitches.
If you are aware of anyone who might be comforted by a prayer shawl, please contact Jetty Zarfos.
Regular meeting time is the first Thursday of the month in the Parlor (Room #203) at 1:00-2:30 pm.
