Pastoral Care Team
The Care Team and Stephen Ministry have combined to form the Pastoral Care Team. These committed volunteers provide compassionate and confidential care to help with all of our congregational needs. We strive to respond to real-life needs in practical ways while respecting the individuals involved. If you are interested in joining this team, all it takes is the desire to serve those in need by giving love, prayers, and a little of your time.
This ministry meets the second Wednesday of each month in the Conference Room at 9:00 a.m.
For emergency and pastoral care needs, please call 941-210-9229. This is a confidential contact.
On my journey out today
I thought of you along the way!
What a better way to say,
You’re in my thoughts and prayers today,
Then making a card and sending it out,
That’s what “Caring Cards” is all about!
A “Crafty” Care Team Ministry of talented people who come together to make lovely handmade cards for St. John’s UMC family’s who may be going through a rough time, illness, or maybe just need to know we’re praying for them.
This ministry meets the second Monday of the month in the Community Room (Room #310)
from 1:00-3:00 p.m.

Caring & Sharing
St. John's loves to recycle so every Monday morning, the Care Team Ministry takes the altar flowers and makes individual flower arrangements that are available to take to anyone who needs a little "pick me up." The vases will be in the lobby. Please feel free to take one.
A "Special Thank You" goes to Linda Radler and Helen Hayes who are currently making the arrangements. If you are interested in helping make these special gifts, please contact the office at 941.925.2661.
Arrangements are made Monday mornings in Room 303.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
This ministry is a branch of the Care Team Ministry that reaches people like no other. The Prayer Shawl Ministry began November 2008. In this short time, we have gifted over 380 shawls. We comfort hurts or add joy to a celebration.
We hear time and time again how much a shawl means to a person who receives one. As shared in a thank you note, "As soon as the lovely shawl was draped around my shoulders, I felt the warmth and power of the prayers that went into it."
We welcome YOU to share your time and talent in this ministry. Anyone welcome. We can teach you the stitches.
If you are aware of anyone who might be comforted by a prayer shawl, please contact Jetty Zarfos.
Regular meeting time is the first Thursday of the month in the Parlor (Room #203) at 1:00 p.m.
