Missing the Mark 10/18/2011
At high school youth group we have been talking about sin. What is it, how does it effect us, how do we combat it? Sin put most simply is "missing the mark." Imagine you are riding in your car and it's hot and you're trying to enjoy a creamy delicious ice cream cone. It's so hot you can barely keep up with the drips and licks and before you know it...BUMP and wham - you have ice cream on your face, shirt, and it lands on the seat next to you. You missed the mark - instead of having delicious ice cream in your stomach - you have ice cream all over! All through life we miss the mark. We never can seem to say all the right words or do all the right things to live perfectly all the way. THIS IS EXACTLY WHY JESUS CAME TO EARTH: TO HELP US HIT THE MARK! Jesus came to say - stop trying so hard to be perfect and resist sin and figure out what NOT to do...instead focus on two things: Love God, Love others (see Matthew 22:37-39). What if every morning you got up and took the time to ask God to help you open your eyes and see what he's aiming at in your life? Something tells me if h John 1:29 "The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!" Add Comment | Krista Mulhollen
