Care Team Ministry
The Care Team Ministry provides compassionate and confidential care for congregation members who are facing the difficulties of life. We strive to respond to real-life needs in practical ways while respecting the individuals involved. If you are interested in joining the Care Team, all it takes is the desire to serve those in need by giving love, prayers, and a little of your time.
This ministry meets the first Thursday of the month in the Parlor (Room #203) at 10:00 a.m. Card Ministry
On my
journey out today
I thought of you along the way! What a bitter way to say, You’re in my thoughts and prayers today, Then making a card and sending it out, That’s what “Caring Cards” is all about! A “Crafty” Care Team Ministry of talented people who come together to make lovely handmade cards for St. John’s UMC family’s who may be going through a rough time, illness, or maybe just need to know we’re praying for them. This ministry meets the second Monday of the month in the Community Room (Room #310) from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Team Leader: Linda Radler / Email: linda@radlers.com Caring & Sharing
St. John's loves to recycle so every Monday morning, the Care Team Ministry takes the altar flowers and makes individual flower arrangements that are available to take to anyone who needs a little "pick me up." The vases will be in the lobby. Please feel free to take one.
A "Special Thank You" goes to Patsy Anderson and Nancy Stevens who are currently making the arrangements. If you are interested in helping make these special gifts, please contact Lorraine. Arrangements are made Monday mornings in Room 303. Prayer Shawl Ministry
This ministry is a branch of the Care Team Ministry that reaches people like no other. The Prayer Shawl Ministry began November 2008. In this short time, we have gifted 260 shawls. We comfort hurts or add joy to a celebration.
We hear time and time again how much a shawl means to a person who receives one. As shared in a thank you note, "As soon as the lovely shawl was draped around my shoulders, I felt the warmth and power of the prayers that went into it." We welcome YOU to share your time and talent in this ministry. We can teach you if you need help and the yarn is provided. This ministry meets the first Thursday of the month in the Parlor (Room #203) at 1:00 p.m. Team Leader: Jetty Zarfos / Email: jettyz@verizon.net Stephen Ministries
The Care Team is in the planning stage of beginning a new Christian ministry
called "Stephen Ministries." This support group will train lay
members to provide one-on-one care to individuals that are facing life's
challenges. Once the course is complete, the participants will be qualified to
become mentors to help our pastoral staff. This course will be a three-month commitment.
